Teaching

Accounting Information Systems II (ACC 3053)

Systems II focuses on developing student's skills in Excel and SQL. Excel is the most critical software for accounting students to learn, so we cover many excel topics and functionalities. I teach relational databases through SQL. Using DB Browser for SQLite, students learn basic SQL queries. The course caps off with an open-ended final project and presentation on a topic of the students choosing. Students select a database to work with and must conduct analysis using Excel and SQL then present their findings to the class.

Accounting Data Analytics (ACC 8143)

Accounting Data Analytics is a continuation of the concepts covered in Systems II, with the purpose of learning applied data science in an accounting setting. Students will learn to solve problems using R. We cover data management, classification algorithms, and regression analysis.
